Kyari Emerges APC Acting Chair, Fuanter Named Acting Secretary
Abubakar Kyari and Festus Fuanter Assume Key Leadership Roles in APC
In a swift response to the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Kyari, the deputy national chairman (north), has taken over the helm of affairs as the acting chairman.
Alongside him, Festus Fuanter, the deputy national secretary, assumes the role of the acting national secretary. This decision was reached during an emergency meeting held by the party’s national working committee (NWC) at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
The appointment of Kyari and Fuanter as acting chairman and acting national secretary respectively was grounded in adherence to the party’s constitution.
After a deliberation that spanned over three hours, Kyari addressed journalists, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the resignations of Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, the former national secretary.
During his address, Kyari emphasized that the resignations were voluntary in nature. “The NWC wishes to inform you of the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu CON and that of the national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore CON,” stated Kyari.
“With this development, and according to the constitution of the APC, it is now incumbent on my humble self, Senator Abubakar Kyari, as the deputy national chairman (north), to assume the role of acting chairman of the APC.”
“Also, the deputy national secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter, will now assume the office of the acting national secretary of the APC.”
