Emir of Kano Calls for Impartiality and Peaceful Elections

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has emphasized the importance of security operatives’ impartiality during the upcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly election scheduled to hold on Saturday. Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who is also the Chairman of the Kano Council of Emirs, made this statement during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Kano Peace Committee to his Palace on Wednesday.

The Emir stressed that peaceful coexistence is vital for societal development and called on security operatives to carry out their primary responsibility of protecting lives and property of the people without fear or favor. He urged them to act in the interest of unity and brotherhood among the citizenry, emphasizing the need for impartiality during the elections.

In addition, the Emir admonished party flag bearers at all levels to prioritize Kano’s interests and not allow personal interests to influence their political decisions. He reminded them that leaders are divine choices of the Almighty predestined to steer the affairs of the people.

Furthermore, the Emir urged the electorate to be law-abiding while exercising their franchise and vote for credible leaders of their choice, bearing in mind that life continues after the polls. He applauded the Kano state government and members of the committee for sensitizing the public on the critical importance of peace and assured them of the Kano Emirate’s support for any move that will ensure peace reigns supreme in Kano and Nigeria at large.

During the visit, the co-chairman of the committee, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, disclosed to the monarch that the committee has set the machinery in motion to curtail public disturbances before, during, and after this year’s election. He assured the Emir that the committee would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders for better results.
